About Us

Agape Life Fellowship is a non-denominational church affiliated with Evangel Fellowship International. Our name summarizes our reason for being. Agape is one of several Greek words translated into just one English word - love.

It is a kind of love that has nothing to do with the quality of the ones being loved (how loveable we are), but everything to do with the quality of the love itself. It is not first a feeling, but rather, a deliberate choice - an act of the will. "We love because he first loved us." (1 John 4:19)

Our religious backgrounds are varied - Pentecostal, Charismatic, Catholic, Jewish and mainline protestant. We believe very strongly that the Church is not a building, denomination, or specific set of doctrines. Rather, it is the body of believers unified in bringing glory to our Heavenly Father and seeking his will.

Our desire is to set aside our man-made rules and traditions and allow the Holy Spirit to move freely among us and strengthen us for His service.

Our Story

Agape Life Fellowship was birthed by the Holy Spirit in the hearts of three couples during the latter months of 1995. Over a four month span we spent time together in prayer and fellowship, believing that God was creating a ministry that would impact their lives and the lives of many others.

During the first few months the Spirit began to lay the foundation upon which Agape Life Fellowship would build:

  1. Preaching from the word that emphasizes the unconditional love of God (Agape) as being the basis of who we are and what we do.

  2. An emphasis on the believer's position in Christ and Christ's position in the believer (Life)

  3. The building and nurturing of lifetime relations (Fellowship)

  4. Freedom of worship, recognizing that the Holy Spirit is the true director of all praise and worship

  5. Ministry to the whole family

  6. A willingness and desire to be flexible to all that God wanted to accomplish

  7. A desire to be non-denominational, reaching out across barriers of age, economic status, race, and religion.

Our first meetings were held at a dining room table and our first "official" meeting took place in a living room on January 6, 1996. From there we moved to a rented home, then to an abandoned plumbing warehouse. Later we met in an elementary school cafeteria and a theatre. We purchased our present property in December, 1999.

Our Purpose and Mission Statement

What should the mission of the church be? Some argue that the church exists to pursue social justice for the poor and downtrodden. Others see it as a political force to help strengthen the moral fiber of our culture. Still others view their church as a private club.

A church's purpose is to mature believes through preaching of the Word, fellowship, and discipleship. It also meets to praise and worship God. While these are very important practices, non of them satisfies the church's primary purpose here on earth. So, what is the primary purpose of the church? Our Lord answers that question by charging us to go... make disciples... baptizing them... teaching them to observe, "all that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20). Following through with this commission is the primary challenge of the church. This is the only duty of the church that cannot be done better in heaven.

As individuals and as a body, we have a passion for Christ and compassion for people. Our fellowship provides a safe haven for spiritual growth, healing, discipleship, and fellowship, but our purpose is to reach outside of those walls, bringing the love and salvation found in Jesus Christ to the hearts of those who need him. Will you join us?

Mission Statement: "Building God's Church, one life at a time, for His glory, and by His grace through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Agape love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Our Beliefs

  • We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.(1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16,17)S

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16,17; 1John 5:7)

  • We believe that man has fallen from relationship with God because of sin, and is lost.(Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:23)

  • We believe that man's only hope is to believe on Jesus Christ, the virgin born Son of God, who lived a sinless life and who died to take upon Himself the sins of man, and who rose from the dead so that by receiving Him as Savior and Lord, man might be saved. (John 3:16; Romans 10:9,10,13)

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, and through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, believers are empowered for Christian service.(Acts 1:4-5,8; 8:15-17; 9:17; 10:44-48; 19:1-6)

  • We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit. (Corinthians 12:14; Romans 12:6-10; Ephesians 4:11-15)

  • We believe that the Church is the body of Christ and is composed of all those who, through belief in Christ, have been spiritually regenerated by the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 2:19-20; Colossians 1:18-19)

  • We believe in the calling and gifting of various ministry functions in the Church, including, but not limited to, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. (Romans 12:5-8; 1 Corinthians 12:27-31; Ephesians 4:11-13)

  • We believe that divine healing for the body, mind, and spirit is included in the atonement of Christ. (Isaiah 53:4-5; James 5:13-16; 1 Peter 2:24)

  • We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus, the consummation of the Kingdom of God, and the restoration of all things spoken by the mouths of the prophets. (Acts 1:11; 3:19-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
